Free primary health care for 10-24 year olds.

Healthcare designed for young people.

Getting healthcare shouldn't be difficult, especially when you're young.

We provide free primary healthcare for rangatahi aged 10–24 through a service designed specifically around their needs. Our nurse-led clinic brings together specialist nurses, youth GPs, sexual health clinicians, and integrated social work, making it easier for young people to access the right support in one place.

Accessible care, where it's needed.

We know that healthcare isn't one-size-fits-all. That's why we offer a range of ways for young people to access support.

Alongside our enrolled general practice, we run weekly same-day acute clinics from the Christchurch Youth Hub and a free nurse-led drop-in clinic at Eastgate in partnership with Te Puawaitanga ki Ōtautahi. These services are available to both enrolled and casual patients, helping remove barriers and ensuring young people can access care when they need it.

Our Youth Health in Schools nurses also provide healthcare directly within secondary schools, meeting rangatahi where they already are and making support easier to access.

More than a GP clinic.

Healthcare is about more than treating illness.

Because our clinical team works alongside counsellors, social workers, and employment specialists, we're able to respond to the bigger picture. Whether a young person needs medical care, mental health support, help finding work, or someone to advocate alongside them, our integrated model allows services to work together around the individual.

It's an approach that helps build trust, removes barriers, and creates better long-term outcomes.

Outcomes:

Building trust in whānau based care.

A young father presented to our drop-in clinic at Te Puawaitanga with significant skin infections affecting his face and legs, alongside untreated scabies. He was visiting whānau with his partner and infant child at the time.

Our clinical team provided immediate treatment, including antibiotics and topical care, alongside clear, practical education to support infection control and protect the wellbeing of his pēpi. This young person has continued to engage with Te Tahi Youth services, and his wider whānau are also now connected with our service.

This case reflects the importance of accessible, trusted care delivered in a non-judgemental environment, where whānau feel safe to return and seek support early.

Creating space for disclosure and ongoing mental health support.

A 20-year-old young man, already enrolled with Te Tahi Youth, attended a routine appointment initially focused on physical health concerns. During the consultation, he disclosed for the first time experiences of significant childhood trauma, and how these continued to affect his wellbeing, relationships, and sense of identity.

In a supported and safe environment, we explored coping strategies he was currently using and identified areas where additional support could help strengthen his wellbeing. With his consent, he was referred to both youth work and counselling services within Te Tahi Youth, building on his existing strengths and connection to the service.

This case highlights the value of continuity of care and trusted relationships, where young people feel able to disclose deeper wellbeing needs over time.
