We spend a lot of time telling rangatahi we'll be there every step of the way. Now we're putting that into practice.
While five runners take on the New York City Marathon for Te Tahi Youth, our team is taking on their own challenges back in Ōtautahi. Our 42 is our way of showing them we're with them every kilometre, while raising funds to support the work we do with young people.
42 kilometres is a long way to run on your own.
So while our five runners prepare to take on the New York City Marathon, we've been thinking about what it means to be there for someone every step of the way.
That's something we say to our young people all the time.
We'll walk alongside you.
We'll help you work things out.
We'll be there when things get difficult.
Now it's our turn.
So, what's your 42?
Our team have come up with Our 42, a chance for us to take on our own challenges while our runners take on theirs.
And 42 doesn't have to mean running 42 kilometres.
It could be 42 minutes of exercise. 42 new things you've never tried before. 42 kilometres on a bike. 42 acts of kindness. Or something completely your own.
The point isn't what you do.
It's getting involved.
Our team will be taking on their own 42s throughout the campaign, and we're inviting our supporters, friends and wider community to join us.
Every challenge helps
Our 42 is also a fundraiser.
We're raising money through Givealittle, with funds going towards the ongoing delivery of Te Tahi Youth's services.
Because while the marathon runners are helping us raise funds for our East Christchurch project, there is plenty of work happening every day across our services.
Young people still need healthcare. They still need someone to talk to. They still need help finding work or getting back into education. They still need someone alongside them when life gets complicated.
That's what your support helps make possible.
Be part of Our 42
You don't need to be a runner. You don't need to be particularly fit. And you definitely don't need to take on anything that feels impossible. Pick something that means something to you.
Choose your 42. Take it on. Get your friends involved. And help us show our runners that we're with them every step of the way.
